Cat Detect for Personnel

Overview

Cat Detect for Personnel provides an additional layer of protection for ground personnel standing or working in the vicinity of mobile equipment. Cat Detect for Personnel utilizes passive Radio Frequency Identification (RFID) technology which is placed within safety vests, hard hats or fixed tags. An Ultra High Frequency (UHF) antenna is installed on Cat or non-Cat equipment to communicate with the RFID tags along with a wireless link in-cab alarm and external speaker. The in-cab audible alarm works instantly to alert operators if a tagged person, machine or fixed object is within an unsafe area behind the equipment. The loud audible alarms outside of the equipment also alert the ground personnel if they reside within the detection zone.

Benefits & Features

Overview

    • RFID enabled Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) - vests, hard hat sticker sets & rigid tags for fixed objects
    • No additional PPE required - no batteries or plug in PPE required
    • By focusing on 'blind spots' only, this technology minimizes false positive alarms
    • Rigid tags can be placed on any fixed object (generators, light poles, pick-up trucks, etc)
    • RFID vests can be worn under other clothing (jackets, etc)

Range

    • The antenna UHF signal extends 25-30 feet out and 10-12 feet side to side / top to bottom
    • The antenna UHF signal can detect through fog - it does not detect through metal or solid water

Availability

    • The system can be installed on Cat or other mobile equipment manufacturers & available via Cat Dealers
