Excellent hydraulic performance, hydraulic cab riser, and durable front linkage options provide for excellent performance in scrap handling applications.
Two different front linkage configurations, 14.3 m (47 ft) and 15.65 m (51 ft 4 in), are available to provide the correct match between reach and lift capacity for all material handling applications.
Material Handling booms and sticks are built for excellent performance and durability.
The boom and stick are designed and built for maximum durability and performance. Efficient design of welded box-section structures with thick, multi-plate fabrications in high stress areas increases durability in above ground loading.
Extended side plates on the stick provide excellent protection for the hydraulic lines. The lines are routed along the top of the stick between the extended side plates, providing protection from damage.
The six-cylinder, turbocharged engine is EPA Tier 2 and EU Stage II compliant. It delivers, at the rated speed of 1800 rpm, a net power of 140 kW (188 hp) for the M325C LMH or 128 kW (173 hp) for the M325C MH. It is built for power, reliability, and fuel economy.
Automatic Engine Control reduces engine RPMs while the machine is not operating to maximize fuel efficiency.
An optional 20 kW hydraulically driven generator can power magnets of 1.22 m (46 in), 1.45 m (57 in), or 1.68 m (66 in) in diameter. A Baldor generator and electronic magnet controller manufactured by Cat are linked to provide trouble free service and virtually eliminate traditional maintenance.
The hydraulic cylinder snubbers at the rod end of boom cylinders and both ends of stick cylinders reduce sound and increase cylinder life to keep the machine working longer.
The hydraulic system offers precise control for excellent response of the M325C MH/LMH, reducing operator fatigue, improving operator efficiency, which results in greater productivity.
Stick regeneration circuits increase efficiency and improve controllability for increased productivity and low operating costs.
The lift arms on the hydraulic cab riser are box-section designed for good cab stability. The linkage is a parallelogram design, which keeps the cab level in all positions.
Two heavy-duty hydraulic cylinders provide quick and controlled up and down movement. At the topmost position, the cylinders are retracted to ensure excellent stability. In event of hydraulic malfunction, the cab can be lowered using either a lever inside the cab or one on the frame at ground level.
This position is used to allow for easy shipping and greater stability during travel.
The operator work station has low sound levels, and the controls have been conveniently placed for ergonomics, easy adjustment and ease of operation. Fully automatic climate control adjusts temperature and air flow.
The cab is attached to the frame with resilient mounts to reduce sound and vibration.
Wide windows allow for excellent viewing in all directions. A large polycarbonate skylight provides excellent visibility upwards. The two-piece window can be opened separately for better ventilation or the lower portion can slide into the upper window to completely open the front bay.
The new seat for wheel material handlers offers adjustable back rest, lumbar support, cushion length and cushion angle. Independently adjustable armrests and pilot controls allow tailored ergonomics to suit operator preference. The seat provides air suspension, seat heating, horizontal suspension and automatic adjustment.
Fully automatic climate control adjusts temperature and air flow.
Each of the controls is positioned within easy reach of the operator. Joysticks control all implements and swing functions. Via the rocker switch, the operator controls the oscillating axle, power modes, parking brake, automatic engine speed control, and other hydraulic functions are in an easy-to-read environment.
The purpose-designed and built upper frame is reinforced with additional plates of high strength material to handle greater loading associated with material handling for excellent durability.
The M325C MH/LMH wheel undercarriages provide maximum rigidity and long service life. This 4 dual/single wheel undercarriage provides the stability needed for Material Handling applications, and is well suited for use with a hydraulic cab riser. The hydraulic lines are routed through the frame, and the cylinders have heavy-duty guards to provide protection from damage.
The smaller machine includes 4 dual 12.00-20 solid rubber tires.
The larger machine is equipped with 4 solid rubber tires (16.00-25). Optional pneumatic tires are also available.
The front axles on the M325C MH and the rear axles on the M325C LMH offer great oscillating and steering angles. The transmission is mounted directly on the rear axle for protection and optimum ground clearance.
Recommended for maximum operating stability, the four stabilizers can be individually controlled to level the machine on slopes. These stabilizers offer larger cylinders, heavy-duty cylinder guards, optimized kinematics and increased spreads.
The Caterpillar orange peel grapples are constructed with four wear-resistant steel tines and fully replaceable tips for excellent service life.
The Walker 1.22 m (48 in), 1.45 m (57 in), or 1.68 m (66 in) Lift Master magnets can be used with the M325C MH/LMH. These magnets have been designed and engineered for scrap processing applications. Ask your dealer salesperson for information on the Walker Magnet.
Grapples and work tools must be matched to the machine size, linkage configuration, and application with respect to material densities. For material densities in the 2000 lb. per yd3, the following sizes should be used:
M325C MH/LMH service and maintenance intervals have been extended to reduce machine service time, increase machine availability, and reduce operating costs. Using S•O•SSM analysis, hydraulic oil change intervals can be extended from 2000 hours to 4000 hours. Engine coolant change intervals are up to 6000 hours when Cat Extended Life Coolant/Antifreeze is used.
Flat fins on all coolers reduce plugging and make it easier to remove debris.
The engine can be accessed from both walkways and from the upper structure.
Caterpillar Radial Seal air filters do not require tools to service them, thus reducing maintenance time. The air filter features a double-element construction and built-in precleaner for superior cleaning efficiency. When the air cleaner plugs, a warning is displayed on the monitor screen in the cab.
The M325C MH/LMH is equipped with S•O•S sampling ports for the hydraulic system and engine oil. A connection for the Electronic Technician (ET) is conveniently located in the cab.
An anti-skid punched-star plate covers the top of the steps and the upper structure to prevent slipping during maintenance.
