New Machines, Original DNA – The first Cat® backhoe loader hit the road in 1985. The machine was co-developed by a team of designers in Illinois, U.S. and a manufacturing team in Desford, UK. The machines are still designed by experts to meet the needs of today’s operators. Every model provides reliability, power and a top-quality operator environment to see you through the toughest projects. The latest backhoe loader range is crafted from 35 years of passion, expertise and experience.

The Cat® C3.6 engine meets EU Stage V emission standards while delivering up to a 10% fuel efficiency improvement compared to the previous model. The aftertreatment system is completely maintenance free with Selective Catalytic Reduction (SCR), Diesel Exhaust Fluid (DEF) and fit for life Diesel Particulate Filter (DPF) system.
Mechanical Levers are standard with Pod Mounted Joysticks as an optional upgrade. The joysticks are mounted on fully adjustable pods and offer the operator finer controls while giving improved ergonomics and comfort.
The option of a larger boom cylinder will give greater lifting performance on the back of the 428 machine.

The option of a larger boom cylinder will give greater lifting performance on the back of the 428 machine.
The 428 comes with a mechanical floor-mounted shifter as standard. Upgrade to the steering column mounted powershift transmission for quicker and easier gear changes. Also available are the Autoshift and Autoshift with Lock-Up Torque Converter (LUTC) options. The LUTC option can offer significant fuel effieciency improvements when roading and better traction when navigating inclines or hills.
The choice of either a soft key or touchscreen display screen gives the operator information at the touch of their fingertips. Optional Machine Security Software is embedded into the display screen as well as notifications on service intervals.
The load sensing hydraulic system coupled with a variable displacement piston pump deliver powerful hydraulics when the operator really requires it.
Choose between three engine options to help tailor machine performance to the application. Standard Mode or Standard Plus gives more speed and power when required. Eco Mode, (optional with pilot or powershift transmission) greatly improves fuel efficiency.
Product Link™ comes as standard on the Cat backhoe loader. Many features exist through Product Link including fuel burn and location allowing the owner to access all data to help increase productivity while reducing costs.
