Based upon its proprietary battery technology, the Cat® Energy Storage Solution (ESS) is capable of covering ultra-long outages to full depth of discharge. The core system is tolerant of high temperatures and unaffected by frequent long or short power cycles. The Cat ESS provides reliable, long duration uninterruptible power for telecom BTS and microwave backhaul operations. The Cat ESS is designed to interface directly with the existing -48V DC bus and is compatible with all -48V rectifier equipment for its charging needs. It can be used with all on-grid AC power configurations either with or without an installed backup generator set.

The Cat ESS cell life is unaffected by high temperatures. There are no depth of discharge or cycle life limitations on the service intervals for the system.
There is no theft value of the equipment in the system. Cells will not operate when removed from the system and contain no valuable material.
